SUMMARY:Wildflower walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a gentle guided walk through Ravenscraig Park. \nAs we go we’ll look at the native wildflowers and other plants that surround us\, and have a chat about their medicinal and nutritional properties. There will be a chance to learn some basic plant identification and botany if you’re interested. \nWe’ll responsibly gather wildflowers and leaves\, and after walking for about 30 to 45 minutes\, arrive at Ravenscraig Walled Garden to arrange them in a sheltered space\, over a light vegan lunch. We’ll give you a glass jar to take home to use as a vase for your flower arrangement. \nThe walk will be paced according to the needs of the participants\, and we’ll be able to choose a type of path and gradient that suits you. There are wheelchair-accessible paved paths as well as more rugged\, unpaved paths\, and we’ll have the option to branch into two parties if need be. There are benches regularly spaced along the route\, and we can pause and sit whenever needed. \nPlease bring: \n\nA bottle of water to drink.\nAny snacks you’d like\, and your own lunch if you prefer.\nSuitable shoes and a coat for our changeable weather.\nAny wheels or walking aids you need or would like to use.\n\nWe welcome anything you can bring to make participating easier for you\, such as ear defenders or fidget toys. The walk is well-behaved dog-friendly\, but if a dog on the walk would be a barrier to your taking part\, please let us know. \nThis event has been generously funded by the Fife Communities Climate Action Network\, and is part of the Fife Climate Festival! \nWe’ll meet:\nAt the carpark at the Kirkcaldy entrance to Ravenscraig Park. There are toilets here. \nWe’ll end:\nIn Ravenscraig Walled Garden\, which has an accessible toilet and drinking water. \nYou can leave whenever you’d like. If you’d like to be accompanied back to the starting point of the walk\, one of the walk leaders will be able to take a group back at the end. \nTravel\nA travel fund is available to cover travel costs within Fife. Please keep tickets and receipts\, and we can reimburse you\, or ask us about our pre-paid taxi fund. \nThe nearest train station is Kirkcaldy\, and the nearest bus stop is Ravenscraig Park\, served by the number 7 Stagecoach bus and the 13 and 13A Bay Travel bus. \nPlease note that Dysart Road is currently closed and subject to a short diversion.

SUMMARY:Zines in the Woods: A day out in Falkland for LGBTQIA+ and/or neurodiverse folk
DESCRIPTION:Let’s muck around in the woods! This nature walk and zine-making workshop is a day in the beautiful Falkland estate LGBTQIA+ and/or neurodiverse folk\, organised by PenPals and Forgan Arts Centre. In the morning\, we’ll go for a relaxed walk in the trees\, at a slow place with plenty of time to stop and look\, and in the afternoon we’ll get together with arts and crafts supplies to make our own little publications. \nTransport subsidies or lifts transport to Falkland Palace will be available. \nThe event is free\, but places are limited. If you book and are not able to come\, we’d be really grateful if you could let us know in advance\, so that we’re able to offer your place to someone else. \nThe walk is approximately three miles\, on well-made paths\, with some gentle slopes. There will be opportunities to return to the start earlier for a shorter walk. \nThis event is part of Queering the Clachan\, a zine project for LGBTQIA+ folk and friends across Northeast Fife.

SUMMARY:Spring foraging walk with Grassroots Remedies
DESCRIPTION:Come and join Grass Roots Remedies to celebrate the Spring Equinox and the abundance of nutritious and medicinal wild weeds in our developing herb garden at the Lauriston Agroecology Farm. We will wander around the garden meeting some of our herbal allies\, share a sensory herbal tea tasting together and make a nourishing spring weeds infused vinegar\, discussing how and why you might want to make these preparations and how best to use them. \nWhat to bring: Please bring a thoroughly cleaned medium sized jam jar\, waterproof shoes as the grass may well be wet\, and clothes suitable for March in Scotland\, as well as any snacks you might want throughout the session. \nAccessibility: The GRR garden is not yet wheelchair accessible. The terrain around the garden is mostly grassy paths. We have an accessible all genders composting toilet next to the garden and there is one step up into our wee hut where we might gather if it’s wet. \nEmail us for travel expenses reimbursement for Pen Pals members\, and please get a free ticket to let us know you’re coming here.
